Hyderabad: In response to the disturbance at BRS party working president K T Rama Rao’s (KTR) rally on May 9, the Nirmal police have taken 23 individuals into custody. SP Janaki Sharmila of Nirmal district confirmed the arrests, stating that evidence from CCTV footage led to the apprehension of the suspects.

Sharmila assured that no one involved in the incident would evade consequences, emphasizing that police patrols were maintaining peace in the area. The disruption occurred during KTR’s roadshow in Bhainsa town, where individuals dressed in Hanuman Deeksha attire hurled onions and tomatoes, causing a brief period of tension.

The troublemakers, wielding placards against BRS leaders, accused Rama Rao of offending their sentiments by criticizing the BJP’s use of Lord Ram’s name for electoral gain two weeks earlier.

Responding to the disruption, the BRS leader urged the protestors to refrain from such actions and questioned the lack of police intervention. Amidst the chaos, some individuals threw onions and tomatoes near the BRS leader’s campaign vehicle, but he persisted with his speech.

Subsequently, the police intervened to disperse the protestors, allowing KTR to continue his campaign in Bhainsa for Atram Sakku, the party’s candidate in the Adilabad Lok Sabha constituency.
