Hyderabad: In a swift action against illegal gambling, the Bhavaninagar police in Hyderabad arrested two individuals on charges of organizing “satta betting” and seized Rs. 35,000 in cash from them.
Acting on a tip-off, the police apprehended Syed Jeelani (47) and Mohammed Osman (41), both residents of Tallabkatta Bhavaninagar, on suspicion of engaging in illegal betting activities. Upon investigation, it was revealed that the duo was allegedly using WhatsApp as a platform to organize and manage their “satta” betting operation.
The police reportedly found the duo accepting bets and maintaining records of their transactions on their phones. This evidence prompted their immediate arrest and the confiscation of Rs. 35,000 in cash believed to be proceeds from the illegal activity.
