In a significant development, the Hyderabad police have issued a ‘Look Out Circular’ against former Bodhan MLA Aamir Shakil, his son Rahil Shakil, and two others. This action comes in the wake of an incident on 24 December last year, where Rahil Shakil, allegedly under the influence of alcohol, collided his car into a police barricade in front of Praja Bhavan, Somajiguda.
The police alert, which covers all airports, seaports, and international border check posts, is aimed at preventing the escape of the accused individuals. Rahil Shakil managed to evade custody on the day of the incident with the assistance of Inspector Durga Rao. Initially, another person was wrongly identified as the accused in the case, leading to a subsequent inquiry by higher-ups in the police department.
Following the investigation, Hyderabad Commissioner of Police, K Sreenivasa Reddy, took decisive action and suspended Inspector Durga Rao for allegedly favoring the former MLA. The police, actively pursuing Rahil, discovered that he had absconded to Dubai with the help of accomplices.
DCP (West) Vijay Kumar revealed that a total of 12 individuals, including former MLA Aamir Shakil, his son Rahil Shakil, Bodhan Inspector Prem Kumar, former Inspector Punjagutta Durga Rao, and others have been listed as accused in the case. The police have successfully apprehended five individuals so far in connection with this incident.
In a related development, the court granted conditional bail to Inspector Durga Rao, who was arrested on Monday. The court has directed him to present himself before the police and cooperate fully during the ongoing investigation. This case has raised concerns about the alleged misuse of authority and the need for a fair and impartial inquiry into the actions of those involved. The Look Out Circular is expected to aid law enforcement in preventing any attempt by the accused to flee the country.
