IMD Hyderabad Forecasts Heavy Rainfall for Telangana’s Polling Day
Hyderabad: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) Hyderabad has issued a warning of heavy rainfall on the upcoming polling day in Telangana. The forecast includes thunderstorms, lightning, and squalls across the state.

The IMD predicts widespread rainfall across Telangana on May 13, coinciding with the Lok Sabha elections. The Election Commission of India (ECI) had previously extended polling hours due to the prevailing heatwave conditions, allowing for voting from 7 am to 6 pm.

This extension applies to all assembly segments of 12 Lok Sabha constituencies, while in the remaining five parliamentary seats, it’s applicable to specific assembly segments as per a notification from the commission.

The recent rainfall has already brought down temperatures in various districts of Telangana. According to data from the Telangana State Development Planning Society (TSDPS), the maximum temperature in the state dropped to 33.7 degrees Celsius, recorded in Nagarkurnool.

Similarly, in Hyderabad, the temperature fell to 36.1 degrees Celsius, recorded in Khairatabad. However, with the forecast of heavy rainfall on polling day by IMD Hyderabad, there’s uncertainty regarding its potential impact on voter turnout in the state.

In response to the disturbance at BRS party working president (KTR) rally on May 9, the Nirmal police have taken 23 individuals into custody.
