Hyderabad: The Crime Investigation Department (CID) in Telangana has achieved a significant breakthrough in the counterfeit passport case, with the apprehension of three additional individuals, including a police officer.
This development follows the earlier arrest of a group of 12 suspects, marked by extensive raids carried out across various locations, encompassing Hyderabad, Jagtial, Nizamabad, Korutla, and Karimnagar.
The recent arrests involve Pranab, a Postal Assistant employed at the Adilabad Passport Seva Kendra, Assistant Sub-Inspector Laxman from the Special Branch in Nizamabad, and an agent apprehended in Mumbai.
The initial crackdown targeted the alleged mastermind, Abdus Sattar Osman Al Jahwari, 50, residing in Hyderabad. The ongoing investigation has brought to light the issuance of 95 passports to illegal immigrants from Sri Lanka. Authorities have promptly notified passport and immigration offices to take necessary measures in response to the unfolding situation.
