Former South African batsman AB de Villiers has expressed his support for Sarfaraz Khan to play in the upcoming second Test between India and England starting on Friday, February 2. De Villiers praised Sarfaraz’s consistent performances in domestic cricket, citing his remarkable record of 3,912 runs in 45 first-class matches at an average of 69.85 and a strike rate of 70.48, including 14 centuries and 11 fifties.
Speaking on his YouTube channel, de Villiers expressed excitement about Sarfaraz’s potential inclusion, stating, “It’s very exciting for me; Sarfraz has a great record in first-class cricket, and if anyone deserves it, it’s Sarfraz.” He emphasized Sarfaraz’s impressive statistics, highlighting his 66 innings with 3912 runs and an average of 69.85.
De Villiers acknowledged the significance of the step up to international cricket against England and expressed hope that Sarfaraz gets a chance, considering the good form of Rajat Patidar.
