Hyderabad, January 31st Telangana State has been allocated a Haj Pilgrim Quota of 7811, which includes 376 pilgrims above 70 years and 130 women above 45 years traveling without Muharram. Out of the total quota, 3502 pilgrims have been placed on a waiting list, as announced by Mr. Sheikh Liaquat Hussain, Executive Officer of the Telangana State Haj Committee.
A total of 11,313 pilgrim applications were received from Telangana, with selected pilgrims notified through SMS. Those selected are required to submit the hard copy of their online application form, original passport, one passport-size photograph, and the first installment of Rs.81,500 within one week. Additionally, applicants providing a medical fitness certificate will be charged a service fee of Rs.300.
The population of Muslims across the country, as per the 2011 census, and the distribution of Burmese Muslims as per the 2001 census, have been taken into account. As per the Hajj agreement between the Governments of India and Saudi Arabia for 2024, a total quota of 140,020 has been allocated to the Hajj Committee out of the Government of India’s overall quota of 175,025. This year, 466 pilgrims from across the country are set to depart, with one Khadim-ul-Hajj selected for every 300 Hajj pilgrims.
